Alba has been really focused during Write to Self time. She has been copying out sentences from books that are in her learning box. She is even putting in the punctuation as well! You are a great author Alba!
I made these patterns.
I did dress patterns and I skipped numbers and I did coloured flowers in a pattern. I also did house patterns.
We learned about patterns at Friday Surprise day and I tried it at home.
For Friday Surprise Day, we continued our exploration into patterns. Today we used music to create a pattern. Can your child explain their pattern? Can you make a new pattern together?
Alba has been persisting on her Writing Goal of using resources to find words.
"I can use my word card to help me find letters and words. I can find words like on, is, the, and, like."
" And I can use my alphabet card to help me find letters like a for snake."
This is Alba's new goal. She is going to listen to and record the initial sounds of words. Fantastic goal setting Alba!
On our Friday Surprise Day we have been looking at a variety of houses and what makes them similiar and what makes them different. Our buddy and I made a house out of playdough. We didn't peek at our buddies house while we created them but when we finished we compared our houses. "Alba and Autumn's houses have a swimming pool but not Charley's house. Alba's house has a round big swimming pool and Autumn's pool is a oval shape. Alba's house is different because it has stairs to get to the top floor. Autumn and Charley's houses are the same because they have no stairs. Alba's and Autumn's houses have a few windows but Charley's house has more windows. Autumn's house is different because it doesn't have a chimney. Charley's house has window shutters but the others don't."
"My sign says open and closed. It was easy to make the letters." Using words around the classroom Alba was able to make the letters from playdough. Many of the other children came over to Alba's playdough words and asked her what they said.
